In February 2016 Karma Carter went to the dr for a routine sick visit. She was given a steroid and told to go home and rest. Before she could leave the dr came back in and suggested they send her for a chest x-ray. So she left there and went on over to have it done. The next morning she received a call telling her there had been a large mass that was found in her right and that she would need to have CTscan. The next day she was sent for the scan and received the results from a primary care PC that there were some concerns that she might have cancer. She was then referred to the cancer center in her hometown of Cookeville, TN. The cancer dr ordered up more test over the course of about 4 months that included 3 surgeries. There were also additional scans and x-rays along with several different rounds of blood work. Over the course of the past 4 months the dr and medical bills have began to pile up, leaving them with mounds of bills and not knowing where to start or even having enough money to pay them. They have been trying to pay what they can, but it's apparent they will be lucky to have enough to pay their current bills. On June 23rd Karma was diagnosed with Stage II Bulky HodgkinsLymphoma. On July 12th Karma began a regiment of chemotherapy called ABVD and will go through 16 treatments over a 8-12 month time period. After the chemotherapy she will also go through radiation treatments. Karma is 36 years old and is married and has 3 kids ages 16, 12, and 7 years old. Due to the treatments, dr appointments, and side affects of chemo, she is on leave from work and will be using short term disability. She had used up almost all of her vacation time going through her diagnosis and will have a period of time that she will not be paid for. She is also only able to draw 60% of her pay after, the first 30 days, while she is off of work going through her treatments. Her husband has also been on intermittent FMLA where he has used up his paid time and is now taking some of his days off, when he takes her to her treatments or appointments, without pay. Karma has always had a heart bigger than the world and will help anyone that she can. I know that she will be very appreciative of any money raised to help with the many many dr bills they have already received will be receiving. Please help us to help Karma and her family with the medical expenses so that she can stay focused on her healing. Every little bit helps. Please continue to keep her in your prayers that she will be restored and healed. Also please continue to keep her husband Jonathan and 3 kids Erik, JD, and Taylor in your prayers as they also go through with helping care for Karma. Thank you!Help spread the word!
