The gates to Martin’s Beach, a well-loved beach and surf spot located south of Half Moon Bay, California, were locked in 2010 by property owner, Vinod Khosla. Despite efforts to work with Khosla directly to get the access reopened, Surfrider Foundation took Khosla to court.
Final arguments were heard on July 16 and now we are awaiting the verdict.
Martin’s Beach is just one of Surfrider’s many beach access battles. The right to beach access is constantly being challenged by private property owners and developers who lock up slices of the coast for themselves. Across the country, Surfrider is standing up for your right to access your beach.
